Introduction
Welcome to the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning department established in AY 2021-22 has an intake of 30 students.Our faculty members are leading experts in their fields, bringing together expertise from computer science, mathematics, engineering, and beyond. The department has fully equipped laboratories with modern and sophisticated equipment.
An era where technology is evolving at an unprecedented pace, the demand for professionals skilled in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) is soaring. Our department is dedicated to exploring the vast potential of artificial intelligence and machine learning to revolutionize industries, solve complex problems, and shape the future of our world.
We offer a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle real-world challenges using AI and ML techniques. In addition to a state-of-the-art curriculum, the Department places a strong emphasis on enriching the students’ learning experience by offering value-added courses, skill-development programs, and opportunities to participate in technical competitions, coding competitions and hackathons at all levels. The Computer Society of India Student Chapter has been established, which actively engages students in knowledge sharing, technology, and skill up-gradation. Student’s forum aptly named “AMSA” provides a platform for students to exhibit their talent in technical as well as cultural activities.
The Department offers Honors Degree program, designed to provide exceptional students with an enriched academic experience and a pathway to further success in their careers. We encourage research through technical paper publication in various reputed conferences and journals. Incubation centre at SSJCOE aims at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among our students, providing them with the resources and mentorship needed to transform their ideas into impactful ventures.
We, the staff and the students work together to create a dynamic environment where learning, research, and industry engagement thrive hand in hand.
Many IT businesses employ a large number of individuals with experience in AI and ML in computer science and IT. Students have a great chance of being affiliated with prestigious industries worldwide upon successfully completing this course. The department has a strong belief that our students will make us proud in future by emerging as an asset to the department, institute and society.

Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
The main goal of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) curriculum is to provide students a thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning are widely employed in a variety of fields, including business, finance, healthcare, education, gaming, facial recognition, music recommendation, and many more fields.
The curriculum is best suited for students who want to develop cutting-edge skills in new technologies which will help them stand out from the competition and advance their careers in the next technological era.
The Mumbai University curriculum includes advanced subjects like Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, Statistical Analysis and Data Science, Deep Learning, Big Data Analytics.
The department also offers honours in Data Science and Cyber security.
The department has the student’s chapter of CSI. The student’s forum of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Students Association (AMSA) is quite active organization that hosts technical festival “ASPIRERS” to conduct activities including seminars, Quizzes.

Departmental Activities:
- Arranged Industrial Visit in “Bombay Stock Exchange”.
- Department conducts various Add-On programs and Workshops to provide practical insights into emerging technologies.
- Department celebrates Engineer’s Day with a poster presentation, quiz competition, recognizing outstanding performance and knowledge in engineering, including AI and ML.
- Department organizes Women’s Day.
- Department celebrates “Teachers Day” to honour Teachers of the department.
Students Achievements:
- Yash Mohite received a start-up grant of ₹5,00,000 By Delhi Ministry of Innovation and Technology. He has won Hackathon’s at various events.
- Sarthak Mohite achieved a perfect score of 100 in mathematics.
- Prathamesh Patil secured an outstanding 98 in mathematics.
- Mahesh Wagh excelled in fencing, winning two bronze medals one in zonal and other in university tournament.
